Rebecca Haynes is an artist and writer based in Washington, DC. She explores emotion and visions for the future through her art and writing that draw inspiration from the Earth.
Rebecca’s paintings often feature trees and other natural elements as symbols of connection, joy, and transformation, reflecting her background in ecology and her belief that art can help us imagine and create the future we want to see. Some of her recent works draw from the fantasy world she's developing in her first novel-in-progress, blending literal scenes with abstract emotional landscapes.
Rebecca holds a B.A. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Princeton University and has worked in ecological conservation and creative direction. After a ten-year break from painting, she returned to art in 2024. Her first painting from this period, Grief Tree in a Colorstorm, was exhibited at Princeton University's Lewis Center for the Arts later that year. Having navigated her own creative blocks and self-doubt, she loves supporting other artists exploring similar themes as well.
